Atlas Shrugged

At this point in my life, I find the politics espoused in Ayn Rand's books distasteful. I read them at a point when I was looking for contemporary books that spoke to my need to know that I wasn't a bad person for being an atheist. Whatever your opinion of Ayn Rand's pro-capitalist, anti-theist, anti-socialist novels, they do a powerful job of illuminating a deeply-felt personal philosophy through the trials of fictional characters. I recommend reading at least one of her books in your lifetime, and this one is the biggest, boldest one of them all.
