Didn't realise she was a Convent Girl, but it somehow explains how she is... I like the rebel aspect of her! But in the recent programmes with her daughter, she came across as a whinger!

Having not had a telly for many years, Anne Robinson's more recent bitch-from-hell persona displayed on The Weakest Link has largely passed me by; I still remember her best for Points of View after she took the reins from Barry Took. TV appearances aside, though, I never knew she was a recovered alcoholic with a high-flying Fleet Street background under her belt, and I never knew she lost custody of her small daughter to her first husband - a trauma she's never quite recovered from.

Anne has a very eccentric background and a subtly waspish sense of humour without ever coming across as arrogant or patronising. She's also very honest and doesn't shy away from describing personal things that were clearly very traumatic for her. I found I liked her very much.

I think my old mother would enjoy this, so I plan to pass it along to her the next time I see her. She's not online but is gamely reviewing anything I lend to her, so I'l pass on her comments when I get them.
