Selected for our next book club meeting, hopefully more uplifting and cheerful than some of the previous books discussed. Purchased used from amazon.

This isn't frankly work related, but it's for a bookclub and I haven't taken the time to see how to expand the label to include that. As I am now retired I expect that specifically work related reads will dwindle.
This was selected because after a few rather depressing to dire bookclub choices, the group felt they wanted something more uplifting and cheerful, preferable without child abuse, torture or other unpleasantnesses. Somehow we landed here.
The author was totally new to me. I had admittedly lots of un-reading related things happening in my life - visits, a rescued kitchen (half drowned in our drainpipe), etc), and would probably have read this much more quickly otherwise. When I was able to sit and read, I did find it interesting, but I couldn't really see where it was going. The flipping back and forth in time did nothing to clarify things, the for me unclear role of the unjustly forgotten female pop artist Pauline Boty... It's a strange story of friendship/love and aging... or not.
I remain very much on the fence about this book, and I may well miss the discussion as I'll be travelling.
