I got this book from an online seller. It's from a series on "Ordinary Terrible Things," dealing honestly with difficult aspects of life from a child's perspective. This one's about death, showing the ways in which people can fail to explain it in a way that makes sense to a child, and/or that obscures the genuine sense of loss. The book includes examples of losses - family members, friends, pets - and has suggestions for ways to handle one's grief as well as things NOT to say to those who are grieving. "...people may not understand your feelings. FEEL THEM ANYWAY. Shield yourself from words that hurt you." The suggestions include "if you have questions for the one who died, ask them... in your imagination or right out loud." And to "keep someone and, at the same time, let them go": play games they enjoyed, read books they liked, make food they made - and/or "treasure what was dear to them. YOU."
