I love it when a parcel gets delivered! Of course, it's happening rather more frequently in these pandemic days of online shopping, so I should be getting used to it, but an unexpected parcel of books is still a Big Event, especially when it also includes fancy biscuits and a birthday card! Thank you very much indeed, plum - it was a very exciting start to the morning :-)
This is a new author for me but I don't think it'll be waiting too long before I give it a go. Historical murder mystery - what's not to like? Thank you!

I don't know why this historical mystery didn't hold my interest but unfortunately it didn't and I've given up on it.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
This is the second time I've used the Royal Mail collection service to send books into West Yorkshire, as I'm still not prepared to go to the post office - it's far too busy. The system worked last time. I've no reason to suppose it won't work again, fingers crossed . . .

Thanks Nu-Knees. I think I might give this a go, but if not I'll at least find it a good home.

I rather enjoyed this book. A less common historical setting and location, rather atmospheric and enough pacing to keep the plot moving along. Nothing groundbreaking but would make a good light read.

Picked up at the York BookCrossing meetup.
The actual substance of the mystery was interesting enough, but the anachronistic dialogue and attitudes annoyed me. I think also there was a previous book in the series that you apparently need to have read to know who all the characters were. I wouldn't rush to read another one by the same author (s? It seems to be a writing team rather than a single person).
