Read this for my book group discussion in October, 2011. Excellent story about an African child who was stolen and taken on a ship to America. She managed to escape during the chaos of the American Revolution, and went to New York, working for the British, but eventually returned to Africa, then went to London. She was a witness to man’s cruelty to man in many places. A heartbreaking, powerful tale.
