OK, I have to say Ahern manages to excel the dystopian YA genre. The story was compelling and Celestine was quite a likeable character. Such a good girl playing within the rules, even after her mistake. But there was some resemblance to Katniss in The Hunger Games. A girl who just tries to do her own thing, which makes her a heroine and involuntarily (if not even unwillingly) the face for the revolution. Well, honestly, resemblance for the whole series.

That been said, I can't wait what the outcome will be. I have the second part of the series waiting for me and I recommend that for everyone as the story ends a bit abruptly leaving more questions than answering them.

The book is finally here, thank you!

This was a good book! It was indeed compelling and managed to be original enough in the wave of dystopian YA fiction that followed The Hunger Games. I'll start reading the second book right away. Hopefully it's as good as this. At least the series is not a trilogy, since so many of said YA dystopias are, and very often the last part is a disappointment.
