It's a new month... time for some new bug fixes!
While Matt is still working on harnessing the book data that we all have contributed to, and making it available for searches, he's also been rather busy fixing other things, and even adding some nifty little features. Read all about it in this Announcements forum post.Secondhand Souls: A Novel

I enjoyed A Dirty Job, which sets up the characters and conflicts that are continued in this book. Was pleased to find this hardcover on the bargain rack at Barnes and Noble today, so I can find out what happens to our hero and his adorable little death-goddess daughter {wry grin}.
Later: It was fun to see the characters again, though there are some tragic losses amid the snarky humor and sense-of-impending-doom. I enjoyed the (lengthy) setup regarding the ghosts on the Golden Gate Bridge, which led to a very convoluted method of getting Charlie Asher's soul back into a human body, though I admit I wanted more of the bridge subplot and perhaps not quite so much of the antics of the Squirrel People (makes sense in context).
The crux of this tale is that (a) little Sophie seems to be losing her powers, which could be very bad if the dark-side tries to take over the world again, and (b) the dark side is trying to take over the world again. Meanwhile, there's a glitch in the soul-collector business, leaving many souls ungathered and at risk of being devoured by the baddies. How all this is resolved... well, I admit I found it a bit anticlimactic, but was pleased at how it turned out.
