Book two of a series, this tells a fact based fictionalised story of Ramses (2nd) rise to power after the death of his father Seti. It leads through his initial phase of temple building, to discovering the site of Abu Simbel through to Moses' accidental murder of a scribe and fleeing the country.

Book two of the series (which I've read again as part of the whole series) takes us a few years into Ramses' reign, seemingly in peaceful prosperity. However, there is a strange Libyan who still believes in Amenhotep's One God beliefs and who thinks the royal bloodline belongs elsewhere. The book ends with Moses' accidental killing of Sary, brother in law to the Pharoah.....
