I got this yaoi manga at The Comic Store in Nashua. The premise is that Roi, the tall, dark and handsome guy on the cover, is actually a hideous goat-demon - or at least *thinks* he's hideous - and has been rescued from an angry mob by the gorgeous blond guy, who's the Aztec fire god Xiuhtecuhtli (and doesn't have any self-image problems, or so I deduce!). The chibi-goat images are very cute indeed, but I can't tell yet whether this is going to be mostly funny or mostly angsty. [I'm hoping for the former, along the lines of the author's Three Wolves Mountain.]
Later: OK, this was a lot of fun! Sure, the premise is wacky - Aztec god rescues European goat-demon and turns him into hunky man, and then the two of them live as master and servant for centuries before anything occurs to advance their relationship. To complicate things, the humble-and-grateful Roi - in addition to having been an ugly goat-demon - is also a "roitschaggata", working for the good of humanity and healing the sick. Interesting mix of mythologies here!
Roi thinks Xiu despises humans, so he feels the need to hide his help-the-humans activities. Then he meets and cures an ailing boy, who promptly begs "Mr. Goat" to be his friend - all very sweet, but the time away from home makes Xiu suspicious, leading to the reveal of his feelings. And about time, too!
The sex scenes are very steamy and explicit, and it seems that our heroes are going to settle in to a more satisfactory relationship. But in the next segment, Xiu's day-job as a pop idol brings him into contact with another spirit, a handsome peri who's hiding out as a human. Will he threaten Roi's relationship with Xiu?
There's a nice little plot-twist regarding the peri and his human ex-lover, and while there's a wee bit of conflict it's resolved quickly. Good story!
All that takes up the first half of the book, with the remainder devoted to a different story, "Hollow Romance" - a lonely young man is befriended by a silver-haired gentleman in the next apartment, but when a string of disappearances raises tension in the neighborhood, it turns out that the older man is much more than he seems. This one has some really gruesome and monstrous scenes of the villain's activities, a good back-story, and an entertaining resolution.
There's a bonus tale about Roi and Xiu, plus some omake strips, to wrap things up. All in all a very enjoyable book!

I'm never sure what to sa about these types of manga. Yoi is not my normal type of manga reading but I do enjoy the occasional foray into it/ I thought the artwork for this volume beautifully drawn. The story premise is interesting if as you said in your review a bit wacky.
I enjoyed this quite a bit on this cold and snowy day off.

I am releasing this into the manga & graphic novel bookbox.
I was wondering why one of the characters has such a Chinese name Xiu, then I read Gory's entry and found out it's actually Mexican, lol. While this manga has more explicit scenes than I'd like, it also seems to have a more complicated story line instead of just fluffy love, so I decide to give it a try. Not to mention the cute little black goat.
Not sure if I've just outgrown Yaoi, or I just don't like this book, but I am not impressed with it. One of the characters is a Mexican deity Xiuhtecuhtli, but this identity doesn't seem to have any relevance. Except to explain how Xiu and Roi come together, which begets the question, how would some Swiss peasants offer a Roitschaggata to a Mexican fire god? Ok, I know, it's just Yaoi, what kind of research do I expect?
Roi as a goat is cute though. If it were some other series, he may have a bunch of licensed merchandise!
On the other hand, I like the short story Hollow Romance more, because the idea is quite interesting.
Setting aside for the manga bookbox.
