Synopsis (credit: back cover)
With her tousled blond hair and upturned nose, dark glasses and chic black dresses, she is top notch in style and a sensation wherever she goes. Her brownstone apartment vibrates with Martini-soaked parties as she plays hostess to millionaires and gangsters alike. The book forms part of my permanent collection.
Whatever my expectations of this classic were, I was totally bowled over. What a great little book! Written in 1958, it captures the era and location in an unforgettable way — yet the approach remains fresh and the characters real and authentic.
Besides the main work, this edition includes three short stories:
• House of Flowers
• A Diamond Guitar
• A Christmas Memory
All of them worth reading. I will definitely be looking out for more of Truman Capote's writing.
