Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly

I have looked forward to reading this for so long.
I've never been quite able to put my finger on what about Anthony Bourdain appeals to me so much. I mean, there are the obvious things: his rebel nature, his brutal honesty, his real-ness. His ability to know the significance of moments while he’s actually in them rather than upon reflection long after.
But as I read the bonus interview at the end of the book, I realized the the interviewer, Daniel Halpern, said it better than I ever could. It's his voice. Not his speaking voice, but his literary voice:
“[It‘s] the way your voice works on readers as they begin your narrative. It's a voice that's completely seductive… It’s the way you write your fiction and the way you talk… Writers have the voice or they don’t have it. You have it in a big way. You could have written a book on flower arrangement and people would have been just as admiring and fanatic about it.”
I’d totally read that book.
