Something tells me the book won't be anything like the movie. I look forward to reading it.
I haven't actually seen the movie and I'm glad I didn't because I really liked this book and I don't think a movie could do it justice.
This book seems to have been written as a tribute to their father. He was a real character and made growing up fun and educational. His kids obviously loved him very much. It was so sad that he ended up dying so young. I wish an additional section would have been written to tell what happened to the family after he died. I really liked reading about the kids growing up during this period of American history because it gives you a glimpse of what it was like at that time...what was acceptable and what wasn't and how things changed as the kids got older and ready for college.
