Odd manga, but well done. The earth is a playing field for demonic and angelic forces. Our protagonists are a demonic player, looking for redemption, and an angelic player, looking for faith. Odd mix, but so far it works, and raises questions that many people struggle with.

Fly far little book!

The books arrived safely today; many thanks! This one's gorgeous - gotta love a guy who can rock a badass longoat, goatee, and glasses all at the same time - not to mention the sword {grin}. And it's by the author of Gate, which I enjoyed.

Later: Definitely an interesting spin on the angel/demon-in-love setup: for one thing, it takes a while before the sparks between the two main characters become obvious, and even then they're too busy trying to rescue each other from being dragged back to their respective places in Heaven and Hell. Shirasagi is a demon who's living on Earth as a priest (!) and is trying to find a way back into God's good graces, while evading the sinister demon lord who used him as a plaything and wants him back. Karasu is the heavenly agent sent to force Shirasagi back to Hell, as his visa has expired (I've noticed that manga seems to be fond of depicting bureaucratic nit-picking in Heaven and Hell) - but when he finds out how hard Shirasagi is trying to un-demonize himself, he's caught up in his plans.

There's a nice little tale of a demon who possessed the body of the youth who'd summoned him (the boy had made a mistake in his summoning and the demon killed him - oops); turns out the boy's ailing mother has shown so much affection for the now-possessed lad that the demon wants to help HER and is staying past his own visa-limit to do so.

The artwork's very good here, from the facial expressions to the action scenes, and I liked the character dynamics. Will definitely look out for the rest of the series!

There's a nice bonus story here, too, one featuring two brothers who've been orphaned, and who are coping fairly well - until the son of the man for whom their mother left their father shows up at their door... Some good "what makes a family?" questions here.
