Still an excellent book. Book centers around what was being discovered about garbage and landfills in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The Garbage Project in Tucson started by looking at sample households' garbage, and doing studies on waste type and economic class. It quickly moved to landfills, and what was happening in Landfills. Turns out, not so much. Garbage will always be with us, and it will remain a problem.

The book also researches best practices and methods of recycling, and concludes that it is a very tricky subject. If you mess with one thing, you often cause more harm than you were trying to fix. Best example still remains the switch from styofoam food containers to treated paper food containers. Fascinating, and unfortunately, still topical.
Fly far little book!

Made its way to Colorado in MZ's memorial bookbox --

I do my share of recycling...but I have a friend at work who has talked about starting a business where people just bring their trash to her, and she sorts through it -- some for recycling, some for her compost worms, and some for ?? -- Anyway, I think I will read this book before passing it on to her :-)

I gave up on this book... I am not sure what I was expecting, but this reads too much like a research paper...it is interesting, but DRY
