When my friend was clearing out an old storeroom at her workplace, she found a huge number of books tucked away out of sight. Rather than see them thrown out, I kindly offered to adopt them all for BookCrossing.

It's weird to come into a series at book three, but I can't say that I missed any of the background. The author is skilled enough to let you know hat you need to know of the past, so you can understand what is happening now. The whole premise of this future world was intriguing, and I'd really like to see the film to see how they depict the travelling cities, although as a die-hard country girl, I'm not sure I could live in such a world!

The story itself is action packed, with lots going on and some neat little twists and turns. Obviously, this is aimed at a slightly younger target audience, but I could still get into the plot and the characters. I really didn't like Hester - she's awful - and find it hard to believe she was the hero of the previous books. She seemed it to take far too much delight in the murder and mayhem around her, but I couldn't quite fathom out why.

A good read and I'd definitely track down the other books in the series to read more.
