Amazon Editorial Review
A celebration of her life-long love for New York, Hanff embarked on this project as an assignment, and realized she had not been to many of the main tourist attractions- the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, the World Trade Center. As make-believe tourists, off she and Patsy travel to describe the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Grant's Tomb, Fraunces Tavern, some of New York's very special small museums, Orchard Street, a tour of Harlem, and much more. Hanff weaves in historical events and tidbits on some of New York's most notorious personalities.

Received today from bookstogive as part of the wishlist tag game. Thank you so much!
I love Helene Hanff; she is such a joy! This book was informative, funny, touching, and intelligent -- the literary equivalent of touring NYC with two of your wittiest, smartest, and most entertaining friends. What more could you want? It was a quick read and I was sad when it came to an end. Highly enjoyable and recommended!

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
This is headed out to ghir as part of the wishlist tag game. Enjoy!
Received in the mail today as a tag from ReallyBookish. Looking forward to this as I am a fan of Helene Hanff and playing tourist.
Thanks, bookstogive and ReallyBookish, for sharing. Your generosity is appreciated.
Helene Hanff's affection for her home colors her exploration of various sites throughout New York City in an effort to write a guide for tourists. This zeal creates a portrait of the city and the time that makes this an engaging read despite no longer being a valid travel source. The Trump Tower was new, Laura Ashley was fashionable! (I remember thinking those retro Little House on the Prairie dresses were so pretty, but now they call to mind Branch Davidians and FLDS women.)
To TOC 02/11/17.
