The book is in Norwegian, German and English.
Terje Vigen is the story of the life of a courageous man, told to us through 43 rhyming verses. The story is set during the years surrounding 1809, when the Napoleonic wars where raging in Europe. At this time, Norway was ruled by Denmark, who unfortunately was fighting on Napoleon's side. Napoleon attempted to isolate England with a trade blockade at sea and England retaliated. English warships were soon blockading all merchant ships and transport between Norway and Denmark. This made life very hard, especially for the people living along the coast of southern Norway, where the import of barley was an essential part of their food supply.

It looks like there supposed to be a CD whith this book, but that is missing.

Picked it up at the BC Convention 2013 in Göteborg. This will be great to read, beccause it inspired one of Swedens best film makers ever, Victor Sjöström to make a movie about Terje Vigen. It was a new direction in Swedish film, to use a famous authors story as a script, to film outside the studio (mostly at Landsort, in the Stockholm archipelago). The film was made 1917 the start of the Swedish golden age of Cinema, which lasted until ca 1925. The real masterpiece being Körkarlen/The Phantom Carriage from 1921, based on a story by Selma Lagerlöf. Sjöström learned about Ibsens story of Terje Vigen while being on a vaccation that took him to among other places Grimstad in Norway, where Ibsen had lived.
