A very strange book.

Flicked through and decided to let it keep going on its journey in search of trout to fish. Very much a very odd book, intriguing but its journey doesn't end here.
Caught from the Aussie Bookbox - it looked so intriguing, I couldn't resist...
Yeah well.... I couldn't really get into it, no matter how much I tried. Not sure why - guess it just wasn't my thing.
Plan to re-release this as part of the Aussie already crossed bookbox
caught in an Aussie book box - looks interesting so I took it out.
This is a very bizarre book. Maybe the author was on drugs, it was the 60s after all! Or maybe you need to be on drugs to understand. Whatever, I did not get it. So back in the book box.

I've heard of this author but never read any of his books. Now I have no excuse...And judging by the comments here by other BCers, maybe you guys need to wish me luck! ;)
Taken from the Aussie Already Crosed Bookbox - which is really a bookBAG! ;)

I think 'absurdist humour' is the best way to describe this book.
Its funny in a very very weird way.
Whilst reading it, I found my self frustrated, bemused, repelled and just plain confused!
The chaptes are short so you can read bits at a time, which is what I did. My sanity would have been put to risk if I tried to read too much at once ;)

Responding to a challenge from libertine101, I picked up the book at todays meet. I read about half quickly and stopped (hopefully only for the moment). It's beyond odd, it's almost Zen-like in the way it discusses what appear to be irrelevancies. Perhaps "Zen" is overstating it, maybe drug induced is more accurate. It's difficult and challenging but I'm starting to wonder if there's anything to gain from finishing it !
I answered the call (well, challenge then) and finished it. It's one of those books that warps space-time - gravity in 182 pages. Quick to read but perhaps impossibly long to understand. In fact, if the good libertine101 hadn't dared me, I'd have ignored it until the next meet. As it is, I have no idea if I've read something enormously profound, or something mind numbingly dull. Try it for yourself - I dare you :)
