CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Going to the lucky winner of the book and bookmark sweepstakes :)

I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. It's actually a children's book but I'm sure there are other adults out there who will find it just as thought-provoking as I did.

Goodbye and good luck, book! Hope you make a truck load of friends. Don't forget to write home once in a while when you get the chance :)

I received this book in the mail as a total surprise because I did not know I was the lucky winner of a book and bookmark sweepstakes! Yay! It sounds interesting and I will go on my "to read" pile before I release it to Nina's Book Nook Little Free Library.

And I don't know why the journal picture is upside down. it's right-side up on my phone.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

Loved this book! Here is my review:

This is a beautiful story about family, friendship and perseverence. August was born with a horrendous facial abnormality that has made him an outsider all his life. His parents decide he should attend the 5th grade at Beecher Prep instead of continuing his home-schooling, and several different characters in the book narrate his adventures and misadventures.

This book left me with a warm and fuzzy feeling inside and renewed hope in humankind. The lesson of the story is nicely summed up in Principal Tushman's speech to the graduating 5th graders when he tells them to be "Kinder than is necessary. Because it's not enough to be kind. One should be kinder than needed.”

This is a children's/YA selection, but I recommend it to other adults as well.
