Penguin paperback 1957
185 pages
From the Back Cover:
Suffering from every malady in the book except housemaid's knee, three men and a dog decide to head for a restful vacation on the Thames.
Anticipating peace and leisure, they encounter, in fact, the joys of roughing it, of getting their boat stuck in locks, of being towed by amateurs, of having to eat their own cooking and, of course, of coping with the glorious English weather.
Jerome K. Jerome's hilarious story of what is probably the worst holiday in literature has an air of delightful nostalgia and is still laugh-aloud funny more than one hundred years after it was first published.

Thank you, hippolein! The book arrived today, will go to Mt. TBR for a while.
This was a pleasant surprise, I liked this book quite a lot. It was full that dry English humour that I happen to like. It reminded me many times of those English TV series that tell about the past or the life in a small village (for some reason The Last of the Summerwine came to my mind often).
"It always does seem to me that I am doing more work than I should do. It is not that I object to the work, mind you; I like work; it fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours. I love to keep it by me: the idea of getting rid of it nearly breaks me heart."

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
I also enjoyed that dry English humour in this book. It is said on the Internet: "The book was intended initially to be a serious travel guide, with accounts of local history of places along the route,...". Hard to believe although the book gave a proper insight into England and English way of living/thinking... :) Also, it's hard to believe that the book was written in the late 1800s.
Three Men in a Boat: To Say Nothing of the Dog! started its journey toward Parainen this morning. Have a nice summer, Piiku!

OMG, I'm getting old. The text is too tiny for me, don't have the patience to read this.
Sending the book to Saarahoo, part of wishlist tag game, and MINKULAs wishlist challenge.

Thank you for the book, Piiku, looking forward to reading it. Despite the small print! :D
Very enjoyable book, I've never been boating so I don't know it's always this eventfull but these
three must've beeb exhausted by the time they got home. I kept forgetting it was written more than a century ago and wonder if the description of the places and locations they passed were accured, could I repeat this trip, if slightly updated?

Lovely surprise from Saraahoo! It arrived this morning as I was stressing out trying to get 100 things done at once so it really cheered me up! Really looking forward to reading it :)

Thoroughly entertaining book, and doesn't feel dated at all despite when it was written. I particularly enjoyed the passage about Uncle Podge trying to hang pictures!
*Saarahoo - according to Wikipedia (hopefully one of the accurate pages!) the pubs and inns are a still open so I'm sure you could recreate the trip! :)
