I worked for a big name book seller for a time and one of the great perks was that employees were allowed to "borrow" the new releases. So buyer beware some new books you buy are actually used.

I love that feature. It makes me feel special. Sometimes the suggestions are way off but some have been good things I might have otherwise missed. I also get sucked in to the whole listamania thing.
