WELCOME TO MY BOOKSHELF

I didn't learn to read until I was in my teens (because I'm dyslexic) but since then I've been hooked! I worked my way through most of the English classics in my teens and I love tales of dragons, vampires and other mythical creatures. I also love to travel and therefore enjoy reading about other people's travels around the world and storie set in countries I have visited.

I think it's great that my books can travel all round the world and see people and places that I haven't and be enjoyed by many people. I have travelled a bit myself, visiting 18 countries in 5 continents so far(see map above)! I'm very excited that my books might travel too and have adventures of their own, maybe even go round the world!

I would love to meet Boockcrossers all over the world and swap books with them so please PM me and put a pin in the map below.

Aside from travel and reading I'm crazy about crafting, I scrapbook, make cards and ATC's (Artists Trading cards)and altered art. My homepage has examples of my work take a look at www.kathieskrafts.co.uk. I have just discovered a couple of great sites, swap-bot where people organise swaps of all sorts of things including books and ATC's and Found Art which encourages people to leave small works of are in the wild for others to find, a bit like BC but with art!

A bit more about me! I live and work at a boarding school for young people with epilepsy and learning disabilities. I absolutely love my life there as about 400 students and staff live on site and it's like our own little world. The class I work with are teenagers with severe learning disabilities and they are absolutely fantastic individuals. I got married to my wonderful husband (bigiraffe)at the start of August and he works at the school too, now all we need are some little giraffe/dragons and life will be perfect!

I am very happy to swap books with anyone anywhere, so take a look at my wish list and my list of available books for ones you want, if anything matches send me a PM! I would also be happy to loan books form my to be read shelf and permenant collection, as long as I get them back!

With very many thanks to the great man himself, Cliff.

I am currently doing a challenge I set myself which is to read my way around Africa. I would love it if other people would join me in this challenge and we could trade books and suggestions etc. If you want to join Pm me, the rules are simple;
1. Read a book (or short story) which is set in each country in Africa.
2. Each book (or short story) can be used only once but different books by the same author can be used.

Here are some other random things I have collected, some are oddly true and others are not! You might like to do the quizes yourself.

I liked this one as thailand is one of the countries I have visited!

You're Thailand!

Calmer and more staunchly independent than almost all those around you,
you have a long history of rising above adversity.  Recent adversity has led to
questions about your sexual promiscuity and the threat of disease, but you still manage
to attract a number of tourists and admirers.  And despite any setbacks, you can
really cook a good meal whenever it's called for.  Good enough to make people
cry.

You're a Hyena!

You have quite a sense of humor, though many others find it derisive
rather than appealing. You are perceived as being a coward, but actually have moments
of great bravery and have even stood up to those much larger than yourself. You like
hanging out in groups and are always making a lot of noise. Disney thinks you are an
idiot.
