Extended Profile
I've recently began a mission to de-clutter my life. The past 10 years or so of my life has involved the collection of far far too many book--perhaps about 2,000 or so. Working as an editor the past 4 years has also involved the collection of far too many
"competitor titles" and the such.
So...I've began a multi-prong attack upon my possessions. I plan on keeping any book I know I'll read again in the near future, and those few books which I love, but I also had the habit of buying a book I already owned if I found it used for really cheap (to give to someone). So, some of my favoritest books will end up in the wild soon as well.
If anyone sees a book in my list which I haven't released yet, feel free to email me a request for it and I'll gladly mail it out to you or trade it in person if you're close enough--I'd rather it go to a guaranteed appreciater. Though, I'm looking forward to hurling books out of my car's window at unsuspecting passersby :)
I know many people love possessing books, but I'm beginning to not understand the point. To me, a huge collection of books is a bit snotty--like telling visitors: "Look what I read, I'm so smart" and the such. I read a lot (obviously), but I'd rather read something new than the same book again (no matter how great usually).
Anyhoo, I hope this does some good.
I have a livejournal with the same name, might be a better source for information you probably aren't too interested in.
