Extended Profile
The greenroom at the Manitoba Theatre Centre in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada is the place where the cast and crew of MTC’s many theatrical productions go to relax while not on stage. They may take a nap, play a game of chess, or sometimes... read a book. A
large shelf sits in the greenroom where an artist can leave a book that they have just read, and take a book that has been left by other artists.
At the 2009 Winnipeg Fringe Theatre festival (also run by the Manitoba Theatre Centre) I discovered Bookcrossing through a stage manager on one of the shows. Turns out that the artists at MTC have been bookcrossing for years.
So I turned the bookshelf in the greenroom into an unofficial BookCrossing zone, and although the actual shelves are only accessible by employees of Manitoba Theatre Centre, feel free to private message JBJoftheMTC if you are interested in any of the books here.
The shelf is fairly eclectic, with fiction, non-fiction, a few plays, and many books that some artists used for character study. We are always looking for new books for the greenroom shelves, in any subject.
Occasionally a book will get bored of listening to the antics backstage and yearn for a life outside the theatre, and becomes a wild release (Favourite spots are the statue out front of the theatre, somewhere in the Lobby, and at the box office).
Once a week, we'll take a random book off the shelf, and see who's wishing for it, and send it as a RABCK...
The wishlist is actually MY wishlist which includes humour, and science fiction/fantasy titles.
