I found this fair-condition '70s paperback (different edition and cover than shown) at the local library book sale, and nabbed it for a release copy. [The novel was the basis for a lovely movie; this book's a movie-tie-in edition with some photos from the film.]

This is a sweet, funny novel about a young girl trying to keep her brother and sisters together after the death of their father. They family lives by "wild-crafting" - gathering herbs and roots from the Great Smoky Mountains where they live - and much of the book describes the hardships and the beauty of this outdoorsy life.

I plan to leave this book on the book-swap shelf in the Tyngsboro post office lobby at about 2:30. Hope the finder enjoys it!
