I'll try this one...it was just set out and two people told me it was a favorite of theirs. Will post and release when I'm done.
A powerful novel of life in Germany during the years *between* the world wars, interwoven with the trials of the main character whose dwarfism makes her different...but not so much as she thinks. It was interesting to read about what life was like during those years, and deepened my understanding of the slow, insidious power of Hitler's regime to take over the people there. If it wasn't his dogma, it was fear of the consequences of disagreeing with him that kept people in line.
I will take this back to the Depot House to release.

I found this book at the Depot House Espresso Cafe in Coburg, Oregon, when my friend Penny and I were biking to my home in Corvallis from Eugene. I was immediately interested, because its focus on political events in Germany between World Wars I and II seems very relevant to what is taking place in the United States right now.
I carried the book home on my bike and am now enjoying it immensely. When I've finished reading it, I will send it to Penny, at her home in Colorado. I'll post again when the book is on its way to Penny.

This book's focus on political events in Germany between World Wars I and II seems very relevant to what is taking place in the United States right now. It's also a fascinating personal story of a woman's life. In autumn of 2003, I sent the book on to my friend Penny in Colorado.
