We purchased this novel in a bookstore in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Hercegovina in June 2010.
GUS: This was a great read. 5 months ago I knew nothing about the conflicts in the early 90’s and this book pieces it all together and you have to admire her courage raising 5 children. most of which time was spent in war zones. The way Whitehouse brings up her children is amazing and my only qualm is that I would have liked to hear what her children ended up doing - this may be the next book.
NIC: Really well written and thoroughly enjoyed this book. Her memoir is fascinating and quite funny. Having visited many of these countries - Croatia, Romania, Slovenia, Bosnia etc - in the past few months it was great to have an insight into the events of the 1990s.
