This is the first of many "Tek" books by William Shatner. Centering around one "Jake Cardigan"; an ex-cop out for revenge and set many years in the future where the drug "Tek" is all-consuming, I found this a good read.
I went on to buy and read the sequel "TekLords", but "TekLab"; the third in the series, seemed to take on a different style, and I found it hard-going, eventually giving up, having started it probably 5 or 6 times.
