I really enjoyed this book and am so glad that I gave Alice Hoffman another chance. Previously I have read "The River King" and thought it was OK but wasn't blown away by it.

The book raises some interesting questions about what it means to be part of a society, the way in which society treats "outsiders", the nature of family, nature vs cilvilisation. At first sight, the "Wolf-Man" and the circumstances surrounding his "escape" with Robin appear to be completely implausible but it doesn't really matter and it didn't affect my enjoyment of the book. It is a modern fairytale in that sense, and asks us to question what it means to be truly human.

I'll definitely be seeking out more of Hoffman's work in the future.
