Carl Hiaasen is a well known author of young adult books including Hoot, which was made into a movie. I was curious to see how he writes for adults and was not disappointed. Carl Hiaasen's writing is easy and funny, which moves the plot along at a fast pace. When Joey's husband throws her off the cruise ship where they were taking an anniversary cruise to rekindle their marriage, she can't imagine why he would do such a thing! Fortunately, Chaz can't do anything right, not even murder, and Joey manages to survive thanks to her years on the college swim team and a fortunate bale of pot floating in the ocean. Instead of reporting the attempted murder to the police investigating her disappearance, Joey teams up with the ex-cop who rescued her to plot revenge against her husband and find out why he tried to kill her. Hiaasen unnravels Chaz's plot with many comical escapades including some hilarious viagra moments.
