A real page turner in which books play an important role. Also, I recognize the influence of several writers in The Book of Last Things: the Grimm brothers (fairy-tales), Tolkien (symbolism and atmosphere), Pullmann (in his attitude towards God), Donoghue (in the twisting of fairy tales) and C.S. Lewis (in its focus on morality). A grand read.
The last quarter (!) part of the book, so after the story had finished, I have read with an increasing reluctance. I'm not particularly interested in an interview with the author or a retelling of the original fairy-tales, especially when it lasts this many pages.

This book is very captivating, but there also is a lot of cruelty in it. I think it is time for me to let it go.

The cover of this is so beautiful and several of the Bookcrossers I am friends with on Goodreads have given it 4 or 5 stars so I’m *really* looking forward to reading this. Thank you so much for bringing it for me, Inge.
