Mildly interesting facts about the origins of CID, but I couldn't really work out if it was meant to be fact or fiction. It didn't grip me - but might be other people's cup of tea.

Detailed history of an infamous Victorian murder case, combined with story of development of Victorian police detectives and how they were represented in press and fiction. I found it interesting but a bit repetitive. Definitely worth reading though.
