This is an incredible true story but terrible hard work to read - in fact I have to admit I did not finish it. The problem is that the author did a huge amount of research and then couldn't leave any of it out. The book falls between two stools so to speak, being neither a thesis for a doctorate in history nor a readable true story. Go to see the film - it gives the essence of the account without being bogged down in detail.
