Journal Entry 2 by DepotHouse at Depot House Espresso Cafe, the in Coburg, Oregon USA on Sunday, May 25, 2003
Release planned for Monday, May 26, 2003 at The Depot House Espresso Cafe in Coburg, Oregon USA.
We were on our way to Johnson Bros. Nursery last Sunday (6/1/03) and arrived at the gate before the nursery opened, so we went back to Depot in Coburg for coffee. Very nice, relaxing and fun spot! Good coffee, friendly service and a nice place to sit out on the porch. I saw the BookCrossing signs and found A Prayer for Owen Meany on the shelf. I've been "meaning" to read this. When finished I'll either bring it back to Coburg or let it loose somewhere else. AND I'll bring some other books to release.
I got this book from my mom because I needed something for a long plane ride. The beginning of the book was very engaging but I wasn't as drawn into the later parts. However, I couldn't put it down because I had to know the answers to the questions of who is John's father and how does Owen die? After reading this I watched the movie Simon Birch, which it says is "suggested" by Owen Meany. Very good movie. Some parts are identical and some aren't recognizable. Worth watching. I'm now sending Owen to a college friend in Seattle.
