A powerful and moving book showing how humanity strives to re-assert itself in the face of appalling circumstances. As well as a sense of moral outrage at the suffering this conflict caused, I also found myself feeling a little ashamed that it was able to occur in Europe in the late 20th century with apparently so litte outcry from European citizens.
