One of my favorite Irish authors. If you have not yet read the earlier books by Mr Doyle, you would do yourself a favor. I particularly liked; the Committments and The Snapper.
Of course in this book, he touches on several of my favorite themes, Ireland, and the "troubles," Jazz, and the depression years in USA. I am mailing the book from my temporary home (two year) in the Philippines to someone in the States and asking him to pass it on when he finishes reading it.
