Book cover: Things are looking good for Kate: she’s passed her promotion exams, her relationship with Rod Neville is going well and she wins a holiday in a prize draw – which is when her problems begin.. What is going on at the south coast holiday couples, run down but with strange touches of luxury?
Almost before she know is, Kate is whisked away to another complex in the same cabin, working undercover s a cleaner. Partnered with Craig, an uncouth misogynist, she’s reminded that not all the good guys are attractive, nor all the villains unpleasant.
As the net closes in on the people at the heart of the crime, Kate is faced with an appalling dilemma – but not before Craig has put her life at risk…
The dividing up belongings into easy to de-clutter piles continues, so with this book, as with many others the thought was, do I: briskly register it with BookCrossing and release it unread or lovingly register with BookCrossing and read before release or not even bother registering with BookCrossing but deliver it straight into the hands of the local cats protection charity and be done with the worry. So at last this toppled off a bookpile into my hands, and seduced anew by the lovely cover art, which I’ll admit caused me to pick it up in a shop in the first place, I held onto this and have now started reading….

Hum… over a quarter of the way in and this all seems rather kitchen sink drama rather than American thriller, apart from the suspected surveillance cameras in the bedroom a note which felt as if it had been dropped in from another movie. But it’s nice to read a thriller with a really down to earth British feel to it rather than the ludicrously over the top American, violent and twisted plot novels I admittedly often zoom though. Later though not entirely convinced by the unlikely coincidence of the country sighting of an angry man, (don’t want to give too much away there) I’ve finished reading and enjoyed this very much.
The interpersonal relationships in this ghastly pressured environment set in such a bizarre situation kind of held together well for me despite thinking once or twice, for goodness sake professionals would behave more professionally wouldn’t they. Though indeed those thoughts were swiftly tempered by memories of professionals behaving utterly contrary to good practise! For sure I’ll be checking book shelves in bookshops and libraries for more books by Judith Cutler.
I have a release plan for this....

Caught at meetup, thanks rainbow3!
Read by my partner who thought it was ok though difficult to get into. Her review was sufficiently lukewarm for me to decide to pass on this one.

---------------------
If you aren't familiar with BookCrossing – WELCOME!
BookCrossers LOVE books, and more than anything, they love to read books and then set them free for other people to find and enjoy. I would love it if you would leave a note (journal entry) – perhaps; where you found the book; or how you liked it if you read it and where you left it. Do take a few minutes to check out this site. You can leave notes anonymously if you wish – and if you do decide to join BookCrossing – joining’s free and confidential!
It’s a fun surprise for others to find BookCrossing books in curious or comfy places; i.e. café & bars, public waiting & formation areas, and even sheltered places in beauty spots (zip-seal plastic bags are useful in that instance)! Once ready, please pass this book on to other readers to keep it travelling!
HAPPY READING!
