Loewen analyzes 12 US History textbooks, and suggests why students find history bland, irrelevant to their background, and boring. In addition, Loewen discusses 12 major "untruths" in the books, ranging from the treatment of the Indians in colonial America, to the "forgetfullness" of the recent past and unwillingness to discuss difficult subjects such as the Vietnam War.
Unfortunately, I only enjoyed reading parts of this book. I think the subject matter is fascinating, but it was not well presented.
