For it to be one of Macomber's early works, I was pleasantly surprised. Good story line (even though predictable), and lots of twist and turns. This book had humor!

And this is an early copy - I JUST picked up another copy at the pediatric site that I'm supporting for work two days ago - and the cover is glossy wording with the flower cut out. What are the chances of that? The newer copy is going into the Debbie availables box & this tagged copy will be read and passed along.
