A name dropping, train wreck of a book, focusing on who the author bedded from the music and film industry. Incredibly self-indugent and pretentious by any stretch of the imagination.

My friend called to tell me that this book had arrived in the mail. She was glowing with so much joy, it could be seen, right through the phone! She was stunned that it was a book that she had been trying to read for many years, but that had always comically, evaded her. Because Tayro is a total stranger, she was also, in her words, "verclemt". -That's choked up, for all the Goys out there!

Thank you a million times, from my friend. Thank you a million times from me, too! :)

I may have to journal her thoughts and make release notes for her. She is computerless and timid about using them too!

I'm making this entry on behalf of the friend that Tayro sent it to. I'll call her "M", for privacy purposes.

M was very excited to finally read this book, after many years of having it slip by her. Although she read it quickly, she was actually disappointed by it. She felt that the author was self-important. M also was suprised that such filthy "dish", could be so lame. The photo's, that were touted as candid by the front cover, came accross as mostly vanity shots of Pamela Des Barnes. M said that she should've expected as much, from a woman who'd slept with so many people, and wrote a book to brag about it!

No matter what she thought of the book itself, she was still grateful to finally have a chance to read it, so that her curiosity is put to rest!
Thanks again, Tayro!

Hmmm...I mailed so many out today, that I forgot who this went to!

It came to me, Yazi, and I guess I'm the minority here. I had a copy of this book, sent it to someone else (I'd have to check; it's still on my shelf), and then when SHE mailed it out, it fell out of the envelope and didn't arrive at its destination!

I suppose the readers before me would think it great justice for a piece of trash.

But I simply adored this book. I adore Miss Pamela. I mean, look. She's a GROUPIE. She hung around rock stars to feel better about herself. When I'm at a show or even backstage, I look down my noses at this sort of woman/girl/whatever. But Miss Pam... the times in which she was doing this were very different. She's grown up, gained perspective. Found a way to make her life work. And that's by writing books. More power to her.

She's not the greatest writer. But she's had amazing experiences.

Maybe you have to love the music biz as much as I do to really appreciate this for what it is. And maybe one day, I'll meet the Plaster Casters (and Miss Pamela, too), and can thank them in person. While they made it a lot harder for a woman to be taken seriously in the biz, they also gave it a LOT of its color and fun.

I would like to re-read this before I re-circulate it. It's nice to see it again; I had missed it. It reminds me of an old friend coming for a visit...

This is now headed, per her request, to CBGBs... oops. CBCD. CBGBs is a New York club... *grin*

I know she's going to love it. I can't believe anyone doesn't love Miss Pamela!

Gosh, this looks to be entertaining! 'Memoirs' of time spent nekkid on drugs with Jimmy Page, Don Johnson, and Chris Hillman and MORE! Too bad it doesn't have an index....

PS to spikesmom...my oldest son's band has played many times at CBGBs. I still have the issue of NY Time Out that listed the 1st time his band played at CBGBs.
