Found this for sale in the Red Cross shop in Chorlton precinct! I'm very fond of William Trevor so I'm looking forward to it. Many thanks for this!

Excellent book. Trevor always draws his characters with an unflinching pen, yet always has compassion and understanding too. This tale of a runaway pregnant Irish teen and the amiable but sinister man who 'befriends' her is both compelling and readable. I was very pleased that the obvious twists were avoided and that the ending is both plausible and exciting. Many thanks for this. I'll take it to the meeting next week (10.30am - that's a.m.! - on the last Saturday of the month, Waterhouse Pub, St Peter's Square, Manchester) where it'll either get passed on or released into the wilderness.
