A warm, humorous and sensitive portrayal of the slow decline of aging. Set in a convalescent home populated by idiosyncratic charaters, Edgerton delicately weaves amusing antics with touching reality.
Occuring in the southern United States, the culture itself is also a character. Told through the story of a middle aged nephew relating to his elderly aunt, the conversations, situations and feelings will be intimately familiar to anyone who has loved someone during their final years. A short book and quick read that nonetheless creates a vivid impression.
