This is a fairly well-balanced narrative about one woman's response to the crisis of AIDS orphans in Ethiopia. The author, a journalist, does not claim to be completely objective -- she adopted a child from this woman's orphanage. But her explanations of the timeline and factors behind the AIDS epidemic are well-researched and interesting. The stories of the children are very engaging. It's refreshing to read a biography about a bona fide hero(ine) that shows her during her not-so-spectacular moments as well as her best ones.
