Under The Skin

A book I found by accident, and I'm so glad I did! Dark, competent, well-crafted, mesmeric and superbly paced. The decsriptive passages are wonderfully put together and I loved the repeated return to Isserley's drives up and down the A9 and her half-comprehension, fascination and repugnance for the world she finds herself in. Far from the usual cut and thrust of ordinary murder, but a deft combination with sci-fi/fantasy and an in-your-face metaphor for man's greed for luxury goods and the lengths he will go to ensure supply meets demand. Read and remember!

Not sure whether I enjoyed this or not. At times very confusing and yet it also made be put the book down and think about what the author was trying to say long before the conclusion. An unusual and thought provoking book.
