Put simply, this is a story about racism, with the White family used to exemplify some of the attitudes to be found in Britain today. It's a clever idea, and the characters are mostly well-drawn, but occasionally it feels as though the author is trying to hammer the point home and the book begins to feel a bit awkward. Worth persevering with though, and overall I enjoyed this.
