I bought this book because, I think, Kierkegaard is quoted in J.D. Salinger's "Raise High the Roofbeam, Carpenters," or "Seymour, an Introduction." I tried, really I did, to get the flow, but I suppose metaphysical religious existentialism is a little too much for me. Please do give it a shot, though. Someone has told me this book changed his life.

I owned this book once: was required reading for a college philosophy (or was it religion?) class. Didn't understand it much, put it down after a couple of chapters. But, always thought it was curious the similarity among the titles Fear and Trembling and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, one that I enjoyed reading.
Anyhow I hope a thorough reading of this Kierkegaard by my adult self WILL (typo) produce more fruit than the aforementioned, mandatory harvest.
ps Hollyert you mentioned Salinger...have you read Franny and Zooey?
