Great style! - Because of all the fascinating "testimonies" about the protagonist, Buster Casey, that sometimes contradict each other, like proper urban legends do... one might just overlook some of the minor allusions to the "real" plot, the plot-behind-the-plot...
Yes, there _is_ some secret knowledge that some of the characters share, but if you want to find out about it, you'll just have to keep on reading... And doing that can't be hard, since Chuck is one of the great builders of suspense. ;)
What, you wanted me to talk about the plot? Nah, that would be too obvious! ;))

I recently re-read most of Chuck Palahniuk's books that had been sitting on my shelf for ages. Most of them turned out to be weaker on the re-read. I could see where he got repetitive. Rant was a surprise. I might actually like it better now than when it came out.
