Never has a hollower and more pointless book than 'The Alchemist' received such praise. Gladwell's treatise is interesting for about five seconds, after ten begins to read like a self-help book, and after twenty I realised my snap judgement that this book may have been worth reading was completely wrong. Aimed at self-satisfied middle-management and up, and middle-career American book reviewers (judging by the spiel of gumpf on the cover and first few pages).
