I liked her novel 'The Lovely Bones'. This is Alice Seabold's memoir of being raped on a university campus at the age of 18. Sounds harrowing, but I like her writing.

Rather detached memoir of the aftermath of being raped at university. Hardly the most uplifting subject matter but I admire her honesty and candour.

Karma is real! I actually bought this book on ebay about a year ago, but it never arrived, and my emails to the seller went unanswered. Yet now I've got it. Isn't that funny? I wonder if this could be the very same book that I bought back then...
This morning I went into the cafe where monthly BC meetings take place in the hopes of finding a leftover book. I asked the girls working there if any books had been left there on Wednesday. They asked what the name of the book was, to which I replied that I didn't know. Bemused they asked if I knew what it looked like. I said no. They pulled a couple of books out of a storing cupboard. "That's it!" I exclaimed excitedly. They let me have it.

Picked up the book in a cafe in Bethnal Green, couldn't put it down, happily realised it was a "bookcrossing" book..took it home..devoured it!

Not an easy read, but compelling. Sebolds frank telling of the rape and its repercussions is, in the end an inspiring tale of recovery...
